Presented by the Urban Film Review, here’s a rare chance to see the film that landed First Place at the Atlanta Film Fest 2010 this Monday at 730PM.
Celebrate the outrageous era of classic R&B radio with trailblazer who helped start it all, James 'Alley Pat' Patrick. He’s the last surviving DJ from the first black-owned radio station in the USA, Atlanta ‘s WERD- AM. Hear Alley Pat screamin’ over classic 50s jazz and blues, and improvise his way through hilarious live commercials. Yet off-air, he’s a quiet bail bondsman getting locked-up civil rights workers out of some very tight spots.
Director Tom Roche and Alley Pat himself will be there in person in SE Decatur's NEW 500 seat theater at the Porter Sanford Arts Center.
Admission is FREE and donations benefit Hosea Feed The Hungry.
It happens the Monday after Thanksgiving.... That's Nov 28 at 730PM at the Porter Sanford Arts Center, 3181 Rainbow Drive Decatur, GA 30034-1712. Just south of I-20 and Candler Road. Map here.
If you dig jazz, R&B, classic radio or Atlanta history, you are sure to dig it. Spread the word. Come on out. Get ready to laugh.
Tom Roche
